What is Eyeball, you ask?
An online community for coaches, fans and players of amateur sports.
Co-founded by Halifax locals Shaun Johansen and Jay Steele, Eyeball is an app that allows users to coordinate, communicate and celebrate amateur sports. Anyone who is involved with amateur sports knows that it can be challenging to keep up with everything: game and practice time changes, the hotels nearest to a tournament, which team is winning a game, and even who scored the big goal. Eyeball makes it easy. Used by coaches, fans and players, Eyeball offers private chats, real-time scorekeeping and photo sharing, among other features.
Johansen and Steele met 17 years ago and have worked together at two other companies, both of which were sold to BlackBerry. After the last one was acquired, the two decided to continue their partnership to build something cool. That “something cool” is Eyeball.
Co-founded by Halifax locals Shaun Johansen and Jay Steele, Eyeball is an app that allows users to coordinate, communicate and celebrate amateur sports.
The idea came to Steele while he was at his daughter’s hockey tournament. A photographer was snapping photos throughout the weekend. Even though Jay had no intention of buying the photos, he decided to check them out while waiting in the lobby, and $200 later he had a CD-ROM of photos he never planned on buying but couldn’t resist. It was then that he realized the undeniable passion, energy and commitment people feel about amateur sports. Surely, he thought, there was a way to build a community around that.
Together, Johansen and Steele developed and launched Eyeball to make it easier to communicate, engage, manage and celebrate amateur sports at any time and from any place. With fast and frequent product releases, they plan to continue to add features that support their mission to make amateur sports even better for their core customers – coaches, fans and players. Eyeball is a must-have for anyone invested in amateur sports.
