Dormie Workshop is a relatively new and rapidly growing Nova Scotia business. Founded by PGA Canada members, and brothers Jeff and Todd Bishop, and clothing designer/ leather expert Geoff McLean. Dormie Workshop, the only manufacturer of its kind in Canada, provides high-quality, hand-made, custom design covers for golf-clubs.

“It is our quality craftsmanship and custom design that sets us apart from other manufactures” said Todd Bishop.

Typically, when one purchases expensive clubs they come with covers branded by the manufacturer. This allows the golfer to basically be a walking billboard for the manufacturer but also means he/she blends in with everyone else.

“Because our covers can be made to reflect one’s personal style, brand, company logo or whatever you could possibly think of, they allow the pro or amateur to stand out and make a statement” said Bishop. “The ability to stand out is becoming more and more important in the pro-game and we’re happy to provide a quality product which allows them to do just that.”

The Dormie Workshop products can be found in pro-shops around the country, but it is their on-line presence which is propelling their success. They have a huge social media following. In particular their promotions via Instagram has gained them international exposure and permitted them to popularize their brand faster and more efficiently to tech savvy amateur ranks than any of their competitors.

Their support of amateur players doesn’t end with products that make the players stand out. Having been amateurs at the sport themselves, the team at Dormie provides sponsorship to players throughout the world who are striving to achieve the ranks of the pros. They give money, their time and work closely with junior teams to support, teach and help them succeed.

Though amateur and pro golfers comprise a large component of their business, custom orders for individuals and small business companies is a growing market for them too.

“Having ones colours and/or company logo on their clubs is an affordable and fun way to promote their business. Some customers just buy them for themselves or as a gift.”
